‘Round the Farm

Stories, Updates, & News From The Farm

It’s a new year! Most years, the big event is switching the calendar on the wall and resigning myself that the Christmas decorations should come down soon. But this year is different. This New Year’s marks a huge transition for our family. After working hard to build a welding business respected in the community and his industry, Delvin and our family have judged something else to be more important: wellness. So the company built with 21 years of grit, perseverance, and lots of sweat and grime completed its last job last month.

Wellness includes so many aspects of how we live life: stress, relationships, physical health, peace, and joy. The beauty of it is that it looks different for everyone. It even looks different for the same person in different life chapters. And it doesn’t matter how it looks. The welding business looked “well” to many. It was a career that gave joy and purpose for many years and then things changed; it was subtle at first and easily overlooked – even by us – but even small changes become obvious when they keep growing. To many people the change in direction looks abrupt and out of character for a family comfortable with consistency and stability, but we’ve weighed the risks and determined the cost of staying with the old model to be higher than the discomfort of stepping beyond the tried-and-true. And along the way we’ve been given books, reading/website suggestions, meetings, tasting opportunities, and purchasing opportunities that have come at just the right time. One or two might be a lucky chance but at some point, we’ve come to believe that God opened doors and planted seeds and we are honored to steward the dream and resources He’s entrusted to us.

We’ve valued local, healthy food for years and we are excited to step into the role (again) of producers for freezers and kitchens beyond our own. If you read the “about us” section of our website, you’ll see that farming and direct-to-consumer sales isn’t all that new. But it was always a side job/hobby and now it is our primary effort. There is a lot to learn. We’re already learning and seeing the value of our decades of experience: in animal care (health and handling), in persevering through many steps to build something (putting effort into the early steps to make later steps easier and the end product better), in working together with others (what he says and what I hear can be so different), and a welder’s ability to fix all sorts of things is amazing!

So, we start the new year with peace, joy, and anticipation, knowing it will require lots of hard work, perseverance, and lots of sweat and dirt. Maybe this isn’t a huge transition after all, just a redirection of the habits and values we’ve held and nurtured in the many calendar years past. We are excited to have you as part of our 2026 journey and honored to be a part of yours.

Thanks for following us and allowing us to serve you. If you have questions, give us a shout! Have a wonderful week!

With Our Appreciation,

Delvin & Rebecca
